The land of Tunisia bears witness to the different civilizations which have succeeded one another in this territory (Berber, Phoenician, Roman, Arab, Oboman, Andalusian …).
Tunisia has achieved a happy synthesis of multiple influences. Andalusian refugees, Italian artisans and Turkish sponsors have all made their mark here. This is how the minarets of Testour recall Spanish architecture, the ceramics of Kairouan take up Ottoman motifs, the mausoleums of the beys – rulers of Tunis – are decorated with marble in the Italian manner. Likewise, freed African slaves are at the origin of a specific musical style called “stambali”. This cultural richness is also found in gastronomy with Berber, Andalusian, Jewish and Italian roots.
This deep culture and its background motivated Svetlana, the visitor who came to Tunisia for the first time in 2015 to launch the new experience in her career and create Carthage Arts & Deals with her husband and partner Walid Nafeti.
They believe together that Tunisian and Mediterranean way of life can bring more than expected to the world human culture. The Mediterranean is a complex combination of ideas, feelings, imageries to be passed on to future generations and make the dialogue among cultures and societies of the Mediterranean, in order to promote pluralism, diversity and freedom, is undoubtedly more necessary.
To be a part from this philosophy, Walid and Svetlana vision aims to spread the beauty of the region stuffs including interior design and fashion which is characterized by simple and romantic aesthetics, cooling white backdrop and relaxed neutrals . Through providing for the rooms uncluttered with quality wooden furniture and natural accent pieces, a mixture of new and old, like traditional wicker decor with shiny modern lighting ideas, rustic stone feature walls and contemporary white concrete interiors.
